Destination Details
Once renowned as ‘the pearl of Asia’ nowadays it is a bustling capital city and Cambodia’s commercial centre. The population here is strikingly young in part due to the horrors of the Khmer Rouge regime that has had a lasting effect on the country. Cambodian’s remain optimistic and resilient, they are some of the most welcoming people in the world.
Despite its appearance Phnom Penh has many great things to do which are often overlooked by many visitors. Our local knowledge allows us to really get under the skin of the city so you are able to experience its wealth of diversity.
Visit Phnom Penh
From authentic street food explorations to home hosted dinners with a nationally acclaimed chef preserving the diversity of Khmer cuisine. A short cycle along the banks of the Mekong and you will arrive at ‘Silk Island’ where traditional silk weaving traditions are upheld and expertly handcrafted items are available to you. Although we do suggest you visit the historical sites in the city such as the infamous S21 and the elaborate Royal Palace the real highlights are in the modern dynamism of the city and its hidden gems.
When at leisure a walk, along the Riverside is a great way to pass time as well as an abundance of markets selling just about everything you can think of, a friendly remork (tuk tuk) driver will be able to take you around the city for a small fare.
