- Wildlife & Nature

Cambodia is blessed with an incredible wealth of wildlife and breathtaking natural landscapes, making it one of Southeast Asia’s most fascinating destinations for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. From dense tropical jungles and remote grasslands to winding river valleys and pristine coastal islands, the country offers a remarkable variety of ecosystems that support rare and unique species.

Despite their richness, many of Cambodia’s animals live in remote and protected areas, making them challenging to spot in the wild. However, thanks to ongoing conservation efforts in recent years, wildlife populations are slowly recovering after decades of conflict. Among the remarkable species found in Cambodia are the Pileated Gibbon, Siamese Crocodile, Binturong, Pangolin, Gaur, and the majestic Asian Elephant, along with many other fascinating species that call these diverse habitats home.

Cambodia is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts. The country’s famous “Big 5” birds include the critically endangered Giant Ibis and White-shouldered Ibis, as well as three rare vulture species: the White-rumped Vulture, Slender-billed Vulture, and Red-headed Vulture—all of which can still be found in protected areas across the country.

At Angkor Insider Travel & Tour, our knowledgeable local guides bring travelers closer to Cambodia’s extraordinary wildlife through carefully designed nature experiences. We take guests to the best locations to observe these magnificent animals in their natural habitats while learning about the conservation efforts that help protect them.

While many incredible species can still be seen today, Cambodia’s national animal, has sadly not been officially sighted for many years—adding an enduring mystery to the country’s remarkable wildlife heritage. Through responsible travel and sustainable tourism, we hope to continue protecting Cambodia’s natural wonders for future generations to discover and appreciate.
